TESOL

Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages

Travel the world and get paid $$$ to teach English

  • Jobs available in over 85 countries.

  • We train and certify you.

  • Guaranteed job placement in a trusted school.

The world wants English-speaking teachers.  We train and certify you to teach English as a true professional.  Our courses are offered through the largest and most respected TESOL certification program in the world.  Once you are certified, through our extensive data base, we will help you find a job with a trusted school in a country where you are qualified to teach and where you want to go.

What qualifications do you need?

  • You must be a native or advanced non-native English speaker.

  • Your English ability is your main qualification.

  • We will train and certify you in TESOL.

  • You must be a high school graduate or GED.  Most countries do not require a college degree.  Where one is required, the emphasis is usually immaterial.

  • You do not need to know the language of the country.  Most schools will give you language lessons as part of your contract.

Where can you teach?

  • This question should really be, where do you want to teach?

  • Over 85 countries are currently hiring English teachers.  This includes Asia, Eastern and Western Europe (see below), South and Central America, Mexico, the Middle East and Africa.  Also, many of our teachers teach in local English as a Second Language (ESL) programs after they return home.

  • NOTE:  Due to restrictions placed by the European Union, we can no longer guarantee job placement in Western Europe (Italy, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Holland), unless you can qualify for a European Union working visa.  This must be done through an EU embassy or consulate.

How long will you work?  How much will you be paid?

  • Most schools offer 1-year contracts.  Many are willing to negotiate for a shorter length of time.

  • We have short-term English camp positions of 4 to 12 weeks during school summer and winter breaks.  These normally pay a monthly stipend, plus room and board and your airfare (these opportunities usually require a college degree - discipline not specified).

  • Your salary is based on the country you choose, the length of your contract and your qualifications.   Salaries range from $400 to over $5000 per month for teaching 20-30 hours per week.

  • In addition to teaching in the classroom, many teachers work privately for $10-$100 or more per hour as private English tutors.

  • School contracts often include

    • paid air fare

    • insurance (all or part)

    • paid vacations

    • room

    • board or a food allowance

    • bonus of one month's pay at the completion of a one-year contract.

  • At the end of your contract, you may negotiate another contract where you are, move to another school in the same or a different country or return to the U.S.   We have some teachers who have not come back to the U.S. in years.  Others return after one contract, while some come back and then return to teaching later.  (Once you are a Global TESOL alumnus, we will help you find a job anytime you wish at no cost to you.)

When will you leave?

  • This usually depends on you.  Some have left as soon as  2 weeks after certification, although this is uncommon.  Others, by their choice, have waited up to a year or longer.  Most, however, go within one to four months.

Traveling and teaching is an exhilarating experience for singles, couples, friends and families (check out our friends and family discount).  Retirees find this an especially satisfying way to provide a much needed service to their fellow man while also bringing additional finances and real excitement into their own lives.  On the other end of things, those just beginning a  career find this a great way to build their resumes.

We invite you to come to one of our Utah campuses or, if you have a group of 6 or more to be trained, we can come to you - whether it be in the U.S. or in another country.   If you are outside of the U.S. contact us for more information. Either way, you win and your English students win!

In addition to our in-class instruction, we also offer on-line or correspondence course options.

Attend one of our free information seminars to find out more about what we can do for you.
